Robotic Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass

Gastric Bypass is well studied and widely regarded as a safe and effective way to lose excess weight and treat obesity related disorders.

During Gastric Bypass Surgery, Dr. del Pino creates a new, smaller stomach about the size of a large egg. This new stomach is separated from the rest of the stomach but no tissue is removed. Since the new stomach is small, it restricts or limits the amount of food you can eat. This small stomach is reconnected to the small intestine downstream.

Why Choose Gastric Bypass Surgery?

Many health problems related to obesity are completely resolved or reversed quickly (back pain, sleep apnea, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, heartburn).*

  • Your body helps direct healthier food choices because of strong discomfort caused by eating sugars, fats and carbs

  • Success rate** of gastric bypass is reported to be between 80 to 90 percent. That means that between 80% and 90% that undergo the gastric bypass procedure lose 50% or more of their excess weight after surgery

  • Most of our gastric bypass patients are able to lose between 60 to 80 percent of their excess body weight in the first 12 months after surgery.

  • the initial weight loss is faster

  • the procedure has been around for about 50 years and results have been confirmed to stand the test of time

*Individual results vary, having weight loss surgery does not guarantee that health problems will be resolved.
**Success is defined as losing 50 percent of the excess weight that you are carrying.
